GET FRESH WITH STELLA BLANCHE THIS SUMMER

As some of you know Jessica Yorston is the bright star behind the label Stella Blanche, and our beloved manager at LUPA for four years!

Her label is known for its bright colours and unusual prints, sometimes using remnants and collectables (Jenny Bannister may have parted with some of her incredible fabric collection) to keep each range limited and diverse.

This season we have seen lots of lofty light crop tops to be worn with her gorgeous high waisted shorts and sweet flippy skirts in lots of cool patterned fabric.

Another feature of this season is divine blends of linen and silk that provide an amazing base for any summer wardrobe.

Established 2009, this is a label to watch!

Jessica also assists at Sister works ( sisterworks.org.au ) a social enterprise based in Collingwood that supports Asylum seekers, refugees and migrant women through the development of craft and sewing practices. We look forward to the global influence of these amazing women in collections to come!

WE LOVE JEANS

Invented in 1873 by Jacob Davis and Levi Strauss the humble jean was adopted by Americans of the west and became emblematic of the rugged cowboy and also the working class farmers of the region. In the 50's jeans got their politics on and have played an important role
in counter-culture since then.

In the 50's jeans were banned in American schools from coast to coast, which only added to the fervour with which teenagers embraced them. Not only did they represent a rejection of class systems and their prescribed dress but they also were made of that magical cloth that washed and wears so well, melding to the body as if custom tailored.

During the 1960s, the appeal of jeans had spread to the American middle class. Protesting college students began wearing them as a token of solidarity with the working class - those most affected by racial discrimination and the war draft. The hippies wore them for peace, the punks for anarchy and on they went.

So 141 years later LUPA would like to contribute toward the long reign of this 'uniform of the individual' he he..
So for a local version, designed to fit mid rise with a skinny leg, come down and try a pair, made in Brunswick $149!

LUPA's IN-HOUSE LABEL IS GROWING

Helloo LUPA Label!
After 14 years of hosting all of our beloved designers in-store late last year we decided
it was high time we took our customers insightful feedback and roll it in to a sweet storey of our own.

As some of you may know our dear friend Christine from Queen Clothing took a step back last year from her label to live in Loa, to help us on our way with this new venture we hooked up and collaborated on some pieces for LUPA's own brand. Sooo with a little help from our friends we have combined the Queen fit with a LUPA feel and voila. Here it is folks.

Her love for dancing and movement is evident in her collections, one of her early jobs was with the National Theatre of Vienna as a Design assistant an influence detectable in McGraw’s creations. We just luurrrvve it all!

'made to be comfortable but flattering, adapting to the flow of movements which is achieved by using stretchable natural fabrics such as wool and cottons as well as asymmetrical and floating style lines'

 TEMPS PERDU
PRIMARY SHAPES 2014

Claire Djuve the inspired eye behind the Label Temps Perdu has blown us away
once again with her Autumn 2014 collection Primary Shapes.

Circles, triangles and rectangles are the primary pieces in the puzzle of her beautifully realised pattern drafting and design. Burnt gold, charcoals and ice greys become artworks in geometry cocooning the wearer in softly structured shapes that can be layered or worn alone.

Linens, wools, cottons and other natural fibres are 'created in a stormy palette shot with sunlight' that  are comfortable and breathable, and cut an distinct silhouette against a changing Melbourne sky.
